Caribbean Week in New York started off in style and fashion with An Evening in Versailles, as interpreted by Mel Simon Soiree Entertainment in its eagerly anticipated Red Carpet Gala - Shero Couture II, on Sunday, June 2nd, 2019 at the beautiful Marine Park Golf Course, 2080 Flatbush Avenue, Brooklyn.
This year, JLC PRoductions owner, Janice Lawrence-Clarke collaborated with Mel Simon SOIREE Ent to present the fashion show which featured presentations from veteran designers Mel Simon for Brooklyn Clothing Lab and costume designer Steven Daniel, both of Trinidad and Tobago, as well as emerging designer, Jamaica-born, Glenroy March for D'Marsh Couture.
Music for the afterparty was provided by three of Caribbean-America's hottest DJ's - Freaks of Soca, LIFE, and DJ Spice.
Part proceeds of sales supported the CAFE - Caribbean American Fashion Exchange Scholarship at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) and St. Jude's Children's Hospital. The CAFE Scholarship has been established at FIT specifically for Caribbean students who live in the Caribbean, to study at this world-class institution.
